My current collection of work explores how design can reflect the physical environment. I use my jewellery to describe my observations of how developments impact on the man-made landscape and how through time, old and new elements fuse together.

My work is defined by structures such as bridges, stairs and scaffolding and therefore my descriptions of the fusion of past and present, are expressed as three dimensional collages that create a bridge between times and cultures.

Through the inversion of material qualities I describe the fusion of old and contemporary forms by creating ornate, aged surfaces in plastic. I transform the original glossy qualities of these plastics to suggest that things we perceive as contemporary will eventually age over time.

In my Reflections series, laser etched acrylic sheet is used to describe old architecture reflected in modern structures. In my Collision series, cast resin describes ancient stone. In my Construction series, to create the illusion of movement and change, I have collaborated with textile artist Linsey Orr to screen print and heat form acrylic sheet. The metal elements throughout represent the newer additions caused by modern living.

Using these processes I aim to achieve an ambiguous time line of urban scenery caused by the effects of human activities over time, rather than a particular element occurring in isolation or at a single moment.
